ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study was to update the frame of reference for information competence training in the National Health System. Attention is paid to the need to address the information competence training of professionals from the National Health System based on identification of conceptual and structural elements intended to update the core competences defined in the year 2008 and reinstated at present, in keeping with conceptual changes undergone by information literacy. Such update, adjusted as it is to the current Cuban context, where knowledge, technologies and innovation play a leading role in the development of society, was based on a solid methodological foundation, so that it may be used in other settings requiring solutions for similar problems. A qualitative analysis was performed using theoretical and empirical scientific methods, as well as the cause-effect diagram for the solution of the problem. A questionnaire was applied to experts. Data collection was based on the triangulation method and the available information was analyzed. The result obtained is an updated version of the frame of reference for information competence training in the National Health System, thus facilitating and strengthening their development among service professionals and technicians in Cuba(AU)

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT The Intelligent Governance or citizen participation in the government of the cities, is one of the key dimensions to consider a city as intelligent, and the portals of Online Government have been a means so that participation occurs; nevertheless, this collaboration requires of another important factor as it is, the Intelligent People, represented in the social and human capital existing in the city or the social weave. This research proposes a statistical model of logistic regression to support social weaving, based on the citizen and digital competencies developed in the communities, through lifelong learning strategies. The scientific method supports this proposal, from the identification of the problem, the proposal of the solution through the use of the model, the collection of data having as population sample a community of people with cognitive disability of the FANDIC Foundation of the city of Bucaramanga, Colombia and the interpretation of the results that suggests the existence of an equation to predict the probability that an individual, after participating in an educational program designed in an adaptive way from the philosophy of lifelong learning, is part of a competent social weaving. ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to analyze theoretically the lifelong learning of Physical Education professors at university. During the biographical processes of life, the teacher goes through episodic experiences that unfold in skills, knowledge, among other elements. This process occurs by the meaning that is attributed to such experiences, meaning this constructed by levels of critical reflection that qualify the professional performance. In this scenario, it is important to emphasize and consider that this process is social, and the university professor is an individual socially interconnected to a social culture, which in turn reveals the idiosyncratic process of learning of this subject. Thus, in his biography, the life experiences of the university professor lead his professional development.

ABSTRACT

Digital information and communication technologies generate benefits in personal and collective life. For the elderly, technological resources promote health, comfort in daily activities, social well-being and engagement in the learning path itself. However, difficulties are shown in the use of mobile devices by the elderly, as well as in the critical analysis of the information available. There is little research directed to the teaching-learning process in the context of digital literacy of the elderly. This paper presents an educational intervention on mobile devices for the elderly, using technology as a form of personalized and remote support for learning practices with smartphones and tablets. The research adopted a multiplatform computational system capable of collecting and storing data, registering scheduled interventions and executing them interactively through an application. In a total of 155 elderly participants, there was a significant increase in the frequency of use of 79% of smartphone resources (Wilcoxon, p <0.05) in the pre- and post-test. There were differences in overall self-efficacy and goal range via smartphone (0.18 < r > 0.66), and also, regarding schooling and age in the use of smartphone resources (from 58% to 16% and from 47% to 21%, respectively) in the pre and post-test. The preliminary results of the intervention indicate possibilities for the development of an educational model of digital literacy for the elderly.(AU)

ABSTRACT

This article illustrates how to use ICT for community formation in ten-year future plans. There is still room for improvement in using ICT, such as creating websites for JSME's annual conferences and seminars. Some other academic associations use social media effectively. For instance, YouTube videos are used to share conference information and Twitter is used for discussions during and after the sessions. There are four ideas that comprise the future vision. The first involves organizing an online course for learning medical education. The second involves establishing a Special Interest Group based on some specific medical education themes such as simulation and e-learning. The third involves creating a community for lifelong medical education, which is an important topic. The last one involves establishing a member support system for using ICT. In addition to these four ideas, there are other expectations that seem like wishful thinking. The first involves using new technologies such as VR and AR as conference organizing support tools, such as creating a "virtual" annual conference. The next expectation relates to "interpretation," which includes only translations into another language, such as Japanese to English, but also transcriptions in the same language using other phrases from a thesaurus and dictionary. Finally, establishing a methodology to manage the lifelong learning of healthcare professionals with digital badges is also expected. These things will be helpful for the next generation medical education community.

ABSTRACT

AIM: The aim of the study was to analyze the lifelong content of learning of coaches. METHODS: Eight coaches inserted in an Elite Football Club participated. Rappaport Time Line and semi-structured interviews were used to obtain the data. The coaches' learning was organized according to the theory of Lifelong Learning.1-4. RESULTS: The coaches presented in their personal experiences, with their families and as athletes, content of learning such as "leadership development" and "formation of values". In professional experiences, such as in academic training, coach assistants and even coaching, they are also reported as essential in obtaining content of learning (general and specific knowledge, training methods, leadership development, self-control). Finally, the reflexive process is considered by most coaches as a potentiator of learning, with interference on the "coach-athlete relationship", "activity adjustment," among other content of learning. CONCLUSION: The content learned throughout the life were defined in certain episodes for presenting different meanings in the life of the coaches, in which they related to a new experience according to their biographies. Therefore, the various episodes offer coaches new experiences, in which they can incorporate, reinforce or renew the content about the coaching process and are responsible for the development of the coach.(AU)

ABSTRACT

The intervention here described aimed to contribute to the harmonious development of senior users of day centers in all their personal dimensions so that they become autonomous, participative and active. Using interpretative-hermeneutic paradigm, we rely on a participatory action research, built and implemented in two day centers in the county of Póvoa de Lanhoso, district of Braga, Portugal, which had a total of 25 users: 12 in the social center A and 13 in the social center B. ABSTRACT

Introduction: Lifelong learning is important for physicians because of patient safety and the need to constantly improve the quality of medical practice. However, few studies have investigated the specific topics that are required.
Methods: We examined the lifelong learning needs of physicians by means of a self-administered questionnaire that was completed by 595 subjects, who were clinical practitioners working in Gunma Prefecture.
Results: Subjects of all ages needed lectures about the use of evidence-based medicine in medical examinations, clinical studies and the interpretation of epidemiological data, and diagnostic imaging. The younger subjects had a greater need for learning about clinical skills and techniques, such as advanced cardiac life support/intensive care life support, abdominal ultrasonic diagnosis, and cardiac ultrasonic diagnosis. Regarding the ideal times for these lectures, some physicians working at Gunma University Hospital expressed a preference for weekdays after normal business hours, while others preferred the weekends.
Discussion: The lifelong learning needs of physicians were clarified. Because physicians work on different shifts and at different institutions, scheduling training sessions that everyone can attend is difficult, especially for those who are off-campus. The timing of the training sessions, as well as the content of lectures, must be considered. Ideally, sessions should be held more than once to accommodate the busy schedules of physicians. We believe that providing an opportunity for lifelong learning will help attract more people to a career in medicine and thereby help address the physician shortage.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The Hyogo Hospital Pharmaceutical Society has been conducting an original pharmacy postgraduate education program, “lifelong learning program (to nurture pharmacy specialists)”, since 2002 using the Internet. To understand the status of using this program, this study employed a questionnaire survey involving all registered members.
Methods: Subjects were all members (1,870) of the society. Questionnaires were distributed and collected by mail.
Results: Only 20.1% of the members had experience of using the program, and the frequency of using it was less than once per 6-12 months in 60% of the members. Their level of awareness concerning the acquisition of credits for lifelong learning was 36.9%. The program category they wished to take was an infection-related program in 26.1% of the members, which was the highest.
Conclusion: As reasons for only a small number of members using the program, the following are considered: loss of user’s ID and password required to login, and lack of awareness concerning the acquisition of credits for lifelong learning offered by the Japanese Society of Hospital Pharmacists. As future issues, we must encourage members to obtain a new password and be proactively involved in preparing new program categories that the members wish to take, in order to promote the continuous use of the program.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: To examine the effects of using an integrated team-based learning (TBL) with problembased learning (PBL) approach for developing lifelong learning in the professional development (PD1) course for first year medical students. Method: Mixed methods study examined the effects on learning of using an integrated TBL with PBL approach and also aimed at expanding the understanding of elements and factors influencing the development of lifelong learning characteristics of 124 first year medical students. A quasiexperimental, pre-post design was used, involving the collection of quantitative data, followed by a qualitative phase using focus group discussions. Results: Findings demonstrated that an integrated TBL with PBL approach is an effective teaching strategy, which delivered higher lifelong learning skill levels. The significant elements of the effective teaching strategy in the integrated TBL with PBL approach were the core elements of infrastructure (i.e., active processes of students, lecturers, tutor-monitored, peers, instructional techniques, student support services, content and problems acting as a stimulus for learning) and enabler factors (i.e., collaboration, trust, teamwork, time management, motivation and care for learning). Conclusion: The integrated TBL with PBL approach was an effective teaching strategy for developing lifelong learning characteristics of first year medical students at Naresuan University.

ABSTRACT

Societies are becoming nations of lifelong learners supported by a vast infrastructure of learning organizations. The centers of this learning revolution are not schools, but a network of organizations and media (museums, libraries, television, books, and increasingly the Internet) supporting the public's ever-growing demand for free-choice learning - learning guided by a person's needs and interests. Science learning is an important part of this revolution. Traditional boundaries and roles distinguishing groups of science educators and institutions are disappearing. To not understand and embrace these changes will impede our ability to enhance science learning worldwide.
